Data network for blockchain platforms Subsquid integrates Flare to provide historical data to developers and applications on the platform.

In an announcement this Tuesday, Flare, a Layer 1 blockchain for data optimized for decentralized data acquisition, announced its integration with Subsquid, a global network providing free, fast and decentralized oracles to developers and the applications they build. The strategic collaboration aims to offer developers on Subsquid access to the historical data on the Flare blockchain.

Subsquid offers a full-stack blockchain indexing solution, the Subsquid Cloud Multichain Indexing, which provides developers with seamless access to fragmented data across multiple chains. It also helps developers simply index and serve data from smart contracts on any chain through its unified GraphQL API.

In addition, it includes an open-source software development kit (SDK), specialized data lakes for on-chain data and a hosted service. This aims to enhance data access to developers in the Web 3 space, allowing them to build out better and more distributed use cases on their applications.

“As we look to provide developers with the best possible tools, we have been very impressed with Subsquid’s commitment to open source approach and the speed of the indexing system they have built from the ground up,”  Flare Co-Founder and CEO Hugo Philion said.

Developers building decentralized applications (DApps) will now be able to tap into the Flare blockchain to access large volumes of historical on-chain data through the distributed data lake of Subsquid.

“We are thrilled to bring Flare into our decentralized data lake, serving as a data provider in the ecosystem and enabling developers to rapidly and permissionlessly retrieve data from the network without having to use an archive node,”  said from Subsquid.

The Subsquid SDK also features a customizable ETL query stack that brings data from multiple different data sources into one, centralized database. This allows developers to index events, extract data and transform it into their preferred data lake. Developers can also leverage the SDK to build custom data pipelines and application programming interfaces (APIs) that retrieve data from the ecosystem. External API calls are also available, meaning developers can use Subsquid SDK to aggregate data from Flare APIs.

So far, Subsquid’s data lake houses over 5,000 DApps and projects and can process over 30 billion requests.

The statement further confirmed that the two firms will extend their collaborations on several other developer engagement initiatives.
