Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse has reaffirmed the company’s commitment to a bipartisan approach in supporting pro-crypto politicians ahead of the upcoming US elections.
In an Oct. 21 post on X (formerly Twitter), Garlinghouse emphasized Ripple’s intention to collaborate with Democrats and Republicans in the final stretch of the election campaign to advocate for blockchain and cryptocurrency-friendly policies.
According to Garlinghouse, the firm’s focus isn’t on party affiliation but instead on backing policies that foster innovation in the crypto and blockchain sectors. However, He highlighted the need for an immediate shift away from what he described as President Joe Biden‘s misguided stance on crypto.
In a separate post, Garlinghouse stressed that voters care deeply about digital assets. He noted that this is no longer a niche issue but could sway elections as voters increasingly seek policies that drive innovation and create jobs.
He stated:
“Voters care about crypto – they care about XRP – it’s not a niche issue. They want real policies that drive innovation and create jobs. Candidates that ignore crypto and blockchain risk a serious loss in support from a growing, informed voter base.”
Garlinghouse’s remarks align with Ripple’s past actions, including its substantial contributions to pro-crypto SuperPACs. Over the past year, Ripple has donated nearly $50 million to the Fairshake SuperPAC, which supports pro-crypto candidates across both political parties.
$10 million XRP donation
Garlinghouse’s statements follow a $10 million XRP donation made by Ripple co-founder Chris Larsen to support Vice President Kamala Harris’s presidential campaign.
In a post on X, Larsen explained that he believes the Democratic Party needs to adopt a new approach to technology and innovation, including crypto. He expressed confidence in Harris to help maintain American technological dominance if elected.
Larsen wrote:
“I believe Kamala Harris will ensure that American technology dominates the world, which is why I’m donating $10 million in XRP in support of her.”
Earlier this month, reports revealed that Larsen also donated $1 million in XRP to Future Forward, a major Democratic PAC supporting the Vice President’s campaign. He made the $10 million donation to the same super PAC.
Meanwhile, his latest donation has drawn the ire of the crypto community, which primarily leans toward Republican candidate Donald Trump. Venture capitalist Nic Carter described Larsen’s donation as “completely baffling.”
